In the midst of all the troubles and turmoil, I feel strangely comfortable. My life is about to change. I am 48 years old and I have been given a long glimpse of the freedom and joy that lies ahead. Big chunks of insight are coming together. I am finding out who I really am.
I am living an amended life.
Yesterday I was at the funeral of my friend and doctor. He lived 10 years with ALS and never stopped fighting. That's how much life meant to him. He told his daughter -- rather, he spelled to his daughter -- who was struggling through a tough time in her life ... "i can do it. you can do it."
I can do this.
