Sara: The middle road seems as elusive as ever in society, politics, and the Church. I am so weary of the pendulum always swinging back to each extreme never resting in the middle for very long.
Me: I am weary with you. And when I think about the people - some, not all - who gain money or fame by cynically exploiting our differences and driving us further apart I am sickened. Its only faith that prevents dispair.
An Amended Life
Setting life right. Changing for the better. Offering an improvement to correct a mistake. An alteration that will improve the conditions for growth. For all, not just one.

Generations
Its remarkable how much personality gets handed down through the generations. Patterns repeat. People marry, families change but the patterns are still operative. And never all bad, these patterns. Knowing the patterns is a key to the amendment process.

First Principles
"The value of a life can be measured by one's ability to affect the destiny of one less advantaged."
-- Bill Strickland, Founder, Manchester Craftsmen's Guild
"My object in living is to unite my vocation and my avocation as my two eyes make one in sight."

Getting Ready
In the midst of all the troubles and turmoil, I feel strangely comfortable. My life is about to change. I am 48 years old and I have been given a long glimpse of the freedom and joy that lies ahead. Big chunks of insight are coming together. I am finding out who I really am.
I am living an amended life.
Yesterday I was at the funeral of my friend and doctor. He lived 10 years with ALS and never stopped fighting. That's how much life meant to him. He told his daughter -- rather, he spelled to his daughter -- who was struggling through a tough time in her life ... "i can do it. you can do it."
I can do this.
